Evergreen Bass Club
Called to Order:
Guests/New members: Our Guest, Eric Anderson gave us a presentation on invasive alien species and the dangers they present to our economy and sport. Also information about the”100th Meridian Initiative”. We received pamphlets with emergency numbers in case we should see any of these species or someone improperly launching or leaving with invasive species on or in their craft.
To report invasive species call, 1-800-437-2774.
For information call, 1-877-786-7267, both numbers are toll free.
On the web go to http://ANStaskforce.gov, also www.100thmeridian.org
Eric gave a very informative presentation and followed with answers for the members questions. Eric also reported on the problems with implementing the program due to funding and legislative apathy. Basically undermanned and under funded. The general consensus among members was that we would contact our legislators to inform them that we felt there was a very real threat and it could not be ignored. For both federal and state we need to contact the members of the “Natural Resources Committee and The Agriculture Dept. One legislator that is already on board is Brian Baird, so it wouldn’t hurt to let him know that Eric is out here in the trenches trying to wake everyone up.
Eric reported that the best way to kill invasive species on your craft and or trailer is to use 140 degree water with soap and for hard to get to places use bleach water , mixed 1 cup bleach to 9 cups water.
Side bar: If perchance Eric should read this, the Evergreen Bass Club wishes to thank you for a great presentation.
